Oh wow for real, so you're saying that ALL 06 GT's already have 3.55 gears? I didn't know my GT had 3.55 gears (I've got an 06)... That must explain why some GT's get worse gas mileage than others under heavy highway driving no?

Man... the things you learn everyday on this board.

Conversely, do the 07s+ have better handling feel due to the strengthend chassis?

Interesting stuff.

all 05-06 GT's have the 3.55 gears, they went to 3.31 on 07-08 with 3.55's being an option. The 05-06's are the fastest due to there being some added stiffening of the chassis for the GT500 in 07. This added some weight and slowed them down slightly.

Autos came with 3.31
Just check the back of the differential to see what gears is has, since many used Mustangs have different, aftermarket gears... and intakes, exhausts, suspensions, etc!
