Default 2006 GT

So I'm thinking of getting an 06 GT w/manual transmission. Don't know that much about it. Is it slower than the 07/08 car? I've heard the tranny is different.

the 05s are the fastest out of the bunch. they can do zero to 60 in 4.9 sec with an excellent driver. the 06 and up is 5.1sec.

OK. But the gear ratio between the 05-06 manuals is the same as the 07-08?

I think the standard is like 3.31....with 3.55 as an option for like 200 bucks.

So 3.31 slower is a little slower?

The 3.55 will give you more torque, but the 3.31 have taller gears that will let you go faster at top speed. I think of it like a bicycle, you have gears to get you going and gears once you are cruizing along. The 3.55 are better to get you going. Gears can be changed, parts + install for around $500.

How much of a difference 0-60 will the 3.31 make vs. the shorter gears?

Good question. Sorry, I don't have the answer. My car is an '05 and came with 3.55's stock. I recently changed to 4.10's cause I like low end torque. I also have a cold air intake and sct tune. My hurst short throw shifter helps too. The 3.31 is better on gas mileage.

all 05-06 GT's have the 3.55 gears, they went to 3.31 on 07-08 with 3.55's being an option. The 05-06's are the fastest due to there being some added stiffening of the chassis for the GT500 in 07. This added some weight and slowed them down slightly.
