Trouble with third

Anyone else had trouble getting into third during higher rpm (5500) shifts??? I've missed twice and got that grinding noise. The first time I hit the gas before I relized I didn't make it into third.
[sm=oopssign.gif] I've been driving sticks since I was 16 and running the 1/4 mile since 18 but mabey it's just me not being used to this car yet.[sm=headbang.gif]

I haven't noticed a problem getting into 3rd, but I miss 5th when racing it for some reason. Maybe it has something to do with shifting at 110-120mph ;)

Speaking of 3rd I got a nice chirp going into 3rd for the first time this weekend. 2nd gear scratch is no problem of course but it just feels odd spinning the tires at 60+ mph.

Yeah, I got the Nero's to yelp hitting third also but I can't understand why I missed twice. I'd hate to do it while racing a ricer...... that would be embarassing. I read something on this forum about the computer not letting you power shift at high rpm because it is trying to protect the drive train or something, could be B/S, then again it could've been something to do with the T/C. Come to think of it the T/C was on both times I missed and off the time I chirped third. Hmmmmm....... any more feedback???

RE: Trouble with third

I forgot about T/C. I usually forget the darn thing on, except one time I raced this Pontiac. I'm not sure what kind it was, or what he had in it, but he instigated the race so I obliged. I really spun em going into 2nd that time. I've never felt the rear end of a vehicle get so squirelly like that.

Anyways, I didn't think it would let you chirp the tires with T/C on but I have no problem doing it. It just spins em even more with it off,
