I rented a Mustang convertible when I was out in Vegas couple of years ago. Took it out in the desert around Red Rocks and wailed on the engine to see what it would do. Assuming most people that rent a Mustang have the same mindset as me, I wouldn't buy that thing in a million years.

lol, i can't believe they advertised the fact that it's a previous rental car... while honest, that's pretty dumb of them.

extended warranties do NOT need to be bought through the dealer you bought the car through. I found a dealership inMichigan that sells Ford ESP plans for waaay cheaper than any dealership around here (a couple hundred cheaper). I called to see if they were legit, and they basically sell so many plans, they get discount deals on them. http://www.fordesps.com/quotes.php

I actually bought a rental car before the Stang and it was only 1 year used when I got it. Never do it again I promised myself. Scary buying rental cars because can't you imagine how people drive/treat rental cars?

ALLWAYS negotiate. Give em the hardline on your price, if they don't take it walk away. There are alot of mustangs out there.
Yeh thats very true. They are not hard to come by.

No they did not advertise that it used to be a rental, i looked it up on carfax.com

So far Im getting the impression from the "mustang experts" in this forum:
1. good deal (price vs miles)
2. previously used rented cars are a turn-off and a gamble.
3. and you guys have a passion for mustangs

haha thanks everyone. anyother tips and advice? always thankful.

I know what I do to rental cars...I would never buy one. I did learn a couple lessons in rentals, though.... Anti-lock brakes do work in reverse but you really gotta be flying to get into 'em. And lesson 2 - it's a bad idea to do a handbrake J-turn in front of the entrance to Bill Gates' house.

Good luck on your search!
