Mustang EXPERTS: please help...

RE: Mustang EXPERTS: please help...
We bought a 2001 V6 Mustang convertable in 2002 that had been a rental. We got lied to about it being a rental and found out later on that it was. It had been a rental in California for a year, then was auctioned off and we found it. Needless to say we still have it, and honestly hav'nt had any problems with it. The only thing was we noticed after we bought it that the front bumper appeared a slightly different color in bright sun, and the rims were not what came stock on the sticker. I say just look it over really well and maybe have a mechanic look at it as well. If it all checks out, then go for it because it is a great price if it is what you are looking for. Good luck

if it all checks out, no damage/scratches, runs good, top not leaking etc. - i don't see any problem buying a rental.
although i would look for something under 10kmiles for the same price. also run cafrax report and see when it was actually put in service (it may be an '06, but it could have been driven since as early asJuly '05, which does not leave you much bumper-to-bumperwarranty)
IMO major rental companies typically auction off their fleet after 1year at ~1/2 original MSRP, and then dealers add their 30-50% which you sure can negotiate.
check out hertzcarsales.com. i almost bought a van there sometime agoand it was 1yr old with 9kmiles at pretty much 60% original msrp, it looked/drove brand new, but i found an even better deal...

RE: Mustang EXPERTS: please help...
Having lived in Vegas, here are my questions about it:
What color is the top?
Are the seats leather or fabric?
Black leather seats might get way too hot with the top down in summer.

RE: Mustang EXPERTS: please help...
My V6 mustang is at body shop. So, I rent a mustang V6 2006. There are problems with it (the rental mustang). It is a little noisy when I turn right or left. It vibrates around 1500 rpm. Sometimes the radio is on by itself. Who cares to tell Hertz to fix the problem? When its warranty expires ,some one who buy it will be in big trouble..

Two thoughts:
1) Get a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) from an independent mechanic.
2) Unless you HAVE to have a convertible (in the desert?), find a previous-gen GT (sunroofs were available up to 04), and go with that. You'll pay the same and have more fun.
Edit: Fixed URL.
Edit2: Removed autotrader link to an previous-gen GT. It was on Autotrader with the one you were looking at, so I am sure you can find it.
