New Steeda Shifter Handle<<UPDATE>>
For those of you that didn't get the Steeda newsletter email, they have a new shifter handle for the Tri-Ax.
I like it, but I have two issues with it. 1. They don't tell how big the ball is. If it's 1.75" like comes with the Hurst, that would be awesome! 2. It looks like when the leather boot is locked in between those notches, the grooves on the sides of the stick would cause an opening to the underside where the rubber boot is. I'm sure there is an easy fix for this, but it seems like such a stupid thing for them to do. http://www.steeda.com/products/steed...andle_knob.php http://www.steeda.com/images/handle_...k_knob_650.jpg http://www.steeda.com/images/handle_...e_knob_650.jpg http://www.steeda.com/images/handle_650.jpg Compare this to the Tri-Ax handle. http://www.steeda.com/images/steeda_...handle_550.jpg I have the Tri-Ax shifter, and the only real issue I have is the angle the stick/knob makes when in an odd gear versus an even gear. In an odd gear the stick is almost straight up, so when you shift to an even gear the stick is angled backward a lot. I'd prefer a little more balance in the angles, meaning, angle the stick a little more forward, so it isn't tilted so far back when in an even gear. From the looks of this new shifter stick, it appears that the backward tilt will be much worse. Here's a couple of pics of mine in... 3rd Gear http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...ne_01/3rdG.jpg ...and.... 4th Gear http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...ne_01/4thG.jpg Gotta love that Steeda billet cylindrical shift knob! ...well, I do anyway...:D Who knows....I may end up getting the new shifter stick. I think I prefer the feel of a shifter ball. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...1/DSCN0949.jpg |

RE: New Steeda Shifter Handle
I just emailed Steeda for the size of the shifter ball. Hopefully they will respond tomorrow.
You know, I was looking at different things on their site, and it is very informative. Take a look sometime. They have a really detailed FAQ section under the Support tab at the top of the page. They also have pdf instructions for many of their parts....including an adjustable upper control arm, which tells you how to adjust the pinion angle precisely. STEEDA IS AWESOME! |
RE: New Steeda Shifter Handle
I never got a reply email from Steeda on the diameter of that shift ball.

ORIGINAL: 07BLACKGT Yeah, your interior is very good looking, love the floor mats! Nice looking shifter also. But, is that a big plastic lady bug in front of the shifter? [&:] roflmao. Thanks for the compliments. I'm wanting that shift handle bad. I like my cylindrical knob a lot, but it would be more comfortable to have a shift ball. I'm going to try to do some measurements on the pictures and rescale to try to get a good estimate of the ball's diameter. That's the only reason I'm hesitating. Some of you may remember all the trouble I had trying to find a shift ball to fit my Tri-ax. I ordered two different balls from two different companies, and they both had a diameter of 2.25".....HUGE!!! I want one that is closer to the Hurst size (1.75") on their comp plus shifter. |
RE: New Steeda Shifter Handle
Saw one today I believe. It was the 1.75". I was wondering what that was!
