2" gap is the standard, tho 1.5" looks good too. i'm at 2" myself.

mine are 10 inch wide with 1.5 gap, but mine are vinyl..

I'd go with 1 or 1.5 with 12 inch stripes. Where are you getting them?

Know it's prolly too late, but standard BSM 10 inch stripes w/ 2 inch gap here.
