Default Toyo proxes S/T?

I was looking at 285/50/18 and the reason is that I want wider tires for the rear, but at the same time I want them to be a little higher profile than the 40's I have right now in order to improve ride quality. I'm plannin on using them for high performance driving under dry conditions (those tires are all-weather so that's what mainly caught my attention). Is anybody using those (or possibly even that particular size which I highly doubt)?

Good question but a 50 series tire is way too big IMO and wont it make the tire height too tall? Throws off everything but this is coming from a guy that has 30 series tires all around on 20's....so maybe someone will chime in with some better info for ya....J

I have the S/T. Running 275/40/20 in the rear, 255/40/20 in the front. When its time to get new tires... ill def be going wider in the back, im thinking either 305 or 295/35/20. 40 rides okay, but it looks like a baloon. JMO.

Any pics of this baloon? Thinking about doing the same size in the rear.

Thanks,

A balloon???...LOL.....

I recently stepped up to 40 series around, and for me, it was a great decision. This has solved all of the issues I personally had with running 20's. I changed from 35 series Nittos, to 40 series S/T's and love these. 255 front, 295 rear....

In case you don't know, the profile is not a set size (ex. a 225/50 and a 285/50 are going to be a lot different in height). That being said, a 285/50/18 is almost 2 1/2 inches taller than stock. If you want the 285 width but want something a little taller than stock, you probably want a 285/45/18. This size is a little over 3/4 of an inch taller. That doesn't sound like much but is a significant difference. (anything 3% or more different is considered signifcant and this is right on 3% taller). I wouldn't put these tires on without first adjusting your computer for the difference in rev's per mile.

Just my suggestions....

Yea, sort of like cartoon tires. Remember the old standard H78/15?

Yeah personally I dont like the look of 20's with low pro tires. They look too big, but with 40 series, the additional sidewall gives it a more musclular look. Is your car at the stock ride height?

and on balloon, yeah I meant to put it in quotes, I fat finger posts all the time too so I shouldnt talk.
