Default 06 GT Sirius Install

I have a question that I can't seem to get an answer to. Maybe one of you can help.

I have the factory Shaker 500 system in my '06 GT convertible (with the AUX button). I would like to install the factory Sirius kit, but according to my dealer,Forddoesn't make a wiring harness right now that will connectit to the radio.

I also got info from an OEM Ford radio supplier that the one Ford does make has had some problems, so they discontinued it.

Now, my question... Has anyone else heard of this? Why can't I just getthe harness from another 06 Ford vehicle? Don't they all use the same basic 6 disc head unit? It just connects the Sirius unit to the head unit, right? Please pardon my ignorance in this matter... I don't do electronics.

Does anyone know where I can get the parts I need?

Thanks, in advance, for all your help!

I have 06 . I found Radiosandmore on the net, got a factory unit. Plugs in the back of your radio. Put the antenna inside the rear window, sirius unit went behind the radio.

I install the factory kit myself on my 06. The wiring harness was one the engineering number crossed to a 2004/2005 4door explorer. It works the same as the wifes 07 factory installed unit. I put the antenna in the decklid and ran the cables and wiring the same a factory. The sat unit is in the trunk. Doing it this way there are 2 parts that may give you trouble getting. One is the bracket for the sat unit in the trunk and the second is the trunk liner for the passenger side as it will have to be replaced. They are back ordered and were as of last week.

You do have a second much cheeper choice. Get the F150 wiring it's very short and you can place the sat unit behind the radio without 15' of wire to roll up. Works just as well and you should be able to install in less than an hour including calling sirius. You'll have the decide where to put the antenna but you can get extentions for the antenna cable and place it on the package tray in the rear. I hope this helps and good luck.

Can anyone posta list of parts andpart numbers requiredto install the factorySirius unitin a Shaker 500/1000 equipped car?

I beleive all that is needed is the Sirius receiver, a wiring harness and the antenna.

Thanks,

Martin

I put a Sportster 5 in my car and I like the look. It is mounted between the two middle vents.
