Default Any regrets with the 4.1's

I had a mustang buddy of mine tell me to go with the 3.73's other than the 4.10's because it will greatly reduce my fith gear and that the 4.10's were as much that I would be able to easily take off on second gear (first gear would practicaly be a waste). My 4.10's are waiting for my car to arrive.

Do any of you guys feel the same way? Have you thought of going with 3.73?

no offense but do you really think that going from a 3.55 to a 3.73 is going to knock a full half second off your 1/4 mile time?
.. i have 4.10's and trust me 1st gear is definitely not useless.. just be ready to grab second a bit quicker

i went with the 3.73's b/c i do a lot of travel back and forth from Houston to San Antonio and i like to set the cruise around 90-100...i could only imagine having my RPM's wrapped out and the gas mileage i would get on that 3 hour drive. as anything, there are pro's and con's to both sets of gears.

reduce your 5th gear? do you really plan on going 150mph all the time? trust me, if you get 3.73, you'll regret it later. i'm still regretting it. i'm not spending another $500 to get 4.10s though.

I would recommend 4.10's.... I have put them in a 05. I liked them.... i recommended them to the guy who bought it. 3.73's just are not enough. I think its lazy with the 3.55's. Also i was in 5th and it wasnt bad what so ever. Around town they are really nice too.

How about for the 5sp Automatic? I'm not particularly happy that it comes with a 3.31 rear ratio instead of the 3.55. I would like 4.10s, but I'm a little concerned that it might be too steep for a daily driver... especially with a blower. Has anyone made a rear ratio swap with the auto tranny?

Also, for those of you with 4.10s, what RPM level is the engine turning when cruising on the highway at say 80-90 mph?

TD1320 has 4.10s in his auto. I am thinking about 3.90s.
