yah its all about 2nd gear. here is how to do it
1)with the clutch in, have your right toe on the gas and your heel on the brake
2)give it just a little gas and just a little break
3)put it in second and when the revs are up to 5k drop it, at the same time you have to give it more gas while keeping the brake slightly engaged

hard at first but gets easier

It takes a bit of practice but after you get the hang of it you'll disapear in a cloud of tire smoke. I used to do this all the time when I was a kid (18-24) with my 69 GTO and my 69 Mach1.
I'm now and old guy (46) so I don't like spending money on tires now.

Personally!

Screw the BUrnouts.... I"m rigging my Stang so when I take off - I pull wheelies... THAT gets a LOT more attention at Stop Lights!

ORIGINAL: Scaught

I am going to get new rims and tires, something like 18x10 with a slim profile. With that decided I am going to waste the stock tires as the need arises.
That's exactly what i'm going to do, when i get my mustang... of course.

Where are you getting your wheels / tires from?
