Default Mustang Burnout...

This may seem dumb to all of you, but im going to ask it anyway.

When I drove it england, we only really have front wheel drive cars.
So to do a burnout you'd need the hand brake (e-brake) on.

So with a rear wheel drive, obviously you'd need to hold down the brake with your foot. but won't that engage the rear brakes as well?

Also, with a manual car, that'll be really hard to do... to rev and come off the clutch at the same time.

Someone explain this to me, im having a dumb blonde moment.

The power and torque of the motor is going to overpower the braking of the car. And obviously once the wheel spin starts, you can lighten up on the brake.
With a manual, you don't need brake. Just punch and dump baby!! Actually, if you are good you can heel toe the brake and throttle while you work the clutch with your left foot.

To do a "true" burnout with a manual trans, simply put the car in SECOND gear and from a stop rev to about 5k and dump the clutch then slightly hold the brake with your left foot and feather the throttle. She'll burn off rubber like theres no tomorrow once you get good at it! [sm=gears.gif]

Are you serious about 2nd gear? I've never done a power break but that just seem crazy to me.

Totally serious, first gear redlines too fast for a prolonged burn...second gear is the tried and true method since I bought my 69 Mach 1 back in 1976.

Yes... post the link. I look forward to seeing it.

I may try it myself. I love burnouts... And tires don't cost THAT much money! []

I am going to get new rims and tires, something like 18x10 with a slim profile. With that decided I am going to waste the stock tires as the need arises.
