whatever happened to people using good old fashioned canola oil. burns slow and has a nice smell at optimal temps.

i haven't used any oil yet, the car is at 4k miles and at 7k i'm supposed to go to the dealership for a "semi-syn" blend. oh well, it's free and it can't DESTROY my car.....RIGHT GUYS?

Gentlemen and Ladies,
Can you use any oil in your car if you have a supercharger? I run full synthetic in all my vehicles. but, I am about to do my first oil change on my new mustang and wanted to see if I can use Full Synthetic. Because once you go synthetic your not suppose to go back. Oh, and I have used Valvoline Full Synthetic and now I use Castrol Syntec (full synthetic). Both have been awesome. I even used Valvoline full synthetic in a 2003 Yamaha R6 and that has a 15 and a 1/2 thousand redline and never had a problem.

Redline is the best oil right now on our weight 5w-20. Royal purple doesn't pass the latest SM-4 guidelines for oil. The top 3 oils are Redline, amsoil and Torco. The best mainstream oil is mobil1. This has been beaten to death.

Can't go wrong with Redline, That is what I run, i dont really care about price when im buying sythentic either so not a big deal. If an oil change cost me 50-60 bucks I really don't care as long as this preventative maintenance keeps my car running forever.... Redline > Mobil 1 but either would work.

yah they reason they use conventional for break in is because of the way the cylinder walls are honed at the factory. Diamond honed walls use sythentic on break in. But yeah once your car is broken and rings are worn in switch to synthetic.
