Need new tires for the GT500
Need new tires for the GT500.
I am down (again) to 2 choices:
1. BFGoodrich g_Force T/A KDW's or the
2. Nitto 555's
Anyone have any thoughts/experience witheither set of tires?
Any comments "for" or "against" either company would be much appreciated.
I don't trust the reviews on the tire sites but I trust the people on this forum!
Thanks,
MSB Mustang / Mark

RE: Need new tires for the GT500
I like the tread design of the Nittos better than that 4x4 offroad design of the BFG's.
I don't like the color of Nittos. They are kind of grayish like drag radials. ...sort of a smoked look.
Kind of a superficial rating on my part, but it's information shared.

Getting 555's on the '07 tomorrow so no opinion yet. I hear they're good. I went with them because they were the only choice in the size I needed. I have KDW2's on the '05 and love them. They hook great on the street, look great, and have great wet traction to boot.

Ah, For The Win. Thanks!
It looks like the Nittos are the tires most posters have chosen thus far over the BFG KDW's. I was leaning that way but someone who has had both on their 05 (and up) Stangs couldsway me either way.
I don't know how many miles were on the Eagle F1's when I got the 07 GT500 (it came from the Detroit Ford test track with 50k miles on it) but they never had great traction even when they had some tread on them. ( Also put in Koni adj shocks and J&M Upper and lower control arms which helped a little with the traction problem on launch but did not solve it).
I got 50k out of the stock Pirelli's on my 05 GT and at $75 each from Tire Rack that was an easy replacement choice as they were very good tires. But at nearly $1k for tires for this beast I am taking my time to try and make the right decision. However the way this car eats up tires I may not have to live with my choice for very long if I choose poorly. Looks like 25k miles max!
Also, DarkFireGT please let us know in a few days how those Nitto 555's work out for you. I was really considering the INVO's but they don't have a size that will fit the rears on the GT500-285/40/18. (255/45/18's on the front) They sent me an email saying they are considering making a rear to fit the GT500 in the INVO's but that the 555's would work for the GT500 also.
Thanks Everyone,
