At the expense of top speed?..Yes, but think how often you accelerate then think how often you reach max speed, you will definetly use the quicker accelaration more often than reaching 130 or so MPH.

DO IT!!! Your gonna get ALOT more tire spin, so your gonna have to re-think your launch. Can't wait to get my 275/40/18 FR500's in the summer.
As far as top speed, i had her up to 140 with no problem. But, how often do you go that fast??
The shop that did mine charged me less than $400 in labor.

Aww man, my last car went to 185mph. You really telling me these ponies die off after 120mph?

No, the ponies don't die off after 120; you just don't accelerate as quickly as you did to get to 120. Also, keep in mind you can go faster than your speedometer can show you at 145.

I was serious. I guess it may have looked a little like a joke, but it was a 185mph car. I have not even raced the Mustang yet to see where it can go. I've had the GT up to about 110-120 though. It pulled good to there, I'm just trying to put some more thrill in it.
My question is:
If you switch to 3.90 or 4.10 gears will you be in 4th or 3rd gear when topping out the 1/4 mile? and if so does the extra gear change negate the acceleration benefits in the 1/4 mile or 0-60mph range? because I imagine you have to change to 3rd to hit 60 mph too.

RE: do gears make a big difference
If you shift at a mph, then you will rev higher, but if you shift at a rpm, you will just shift quicker, and 1st gear comes and goes quick.
With 4.10 3rd will get me to 90mph, 4th 120mph, and I hit 146 pretty easy in 5th, before I had to back her down.
