Trumpeting

For those who...

Don't know what trumpeting sounds like.....

or

Wonder how loud an OR H-pipe is inside the car.....

Check this out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHSSTFtlJw8
This is exactly the way my stingers sounded when I ran an OR H-pipe. I hated the overbearing trumpeting noise. Made it sound like I was really getting into the gas when I was actually driving very mildly. However, at WOT, the OR H sounds like a racecar!

I thought it sounded pretty good  Except staring at the sky made me a little motion sick.

The trumpeting is obnoxious. It sounds like you have a couple of big rig air horns going off in your trunk.

the pypes mid muffler minimized the that effect for me with the o/r h pipe..acts like resonators sort of

Compare that sound to this one with the same mufflers but an OR Prochamber. Much better in the cabin, but I wonder how it is outside. It's hard to find a stinger/prochamber video where the car is actually being driven.

So am I making the wrong choice by getting ready to order the FRPP Stingers for my GT500? I think they are the 5230-SGT model....my old GT had the GTA's i think and I thought they sounded good.

No Way!!! Get the stingers! They are the best sounding mufflers for our cars PERIOD. ....but they sound different depending on the midpipe.

Check out this vid. I just received my Bassani catted X-pipe, but I'm trying to decide if I really want to try another midpipe or just sell it. I'm concerned that it will be as loud as the OR H or trumpet really bad or be raspy.

Thanks! The midpipe will be stock....for now. Maybe I'll finish it off with a full borla kit from the headers on back down the road.

RE: Trumpeting

Doesn't your GT500 have the FRPP X-pipe? If so, that will alter the sound a little. I considered ordering that and splicing it in.

Here's what I'm looking for.
I want to retain the smooth Borla tone.
I want it to sound as deep or deeper than it does now.
I want the exhaust pulses to thump a little more distinctively, which an X-pipe should accomplish.
I want zero raspiness or popping sounds, which an X-pipe usually produces.
I do not want the airy sound at WOT that MAC's have, where the exhaust sounds quieter and more tame the more rpms you have.
I would like to reduce drone, but resonators are out of the question because they destroy the exhaust note.
