Will the Shaker 500 plug into a car with stock stereo?
Will the Shaker 500 just plug into the harness that comes with the stock stereo. I'm asking this because as some of you know, my car was totaled and I'm parting it out. A girl I work with has a V6 stang with the stock stereo and would really like the ability to have the 6 CD changer. I was thinking that I could just plug the Shaker 500 in. Is that possible? I know it won't have the door subs. Thanks.

Yes and no.
The data must be downloaded from your non shaker
and loaded into the shaker. This must be done thru
the dealership. And then it might not work. You might
need build data from a vehicle with the options you have
but with a shaker 500, not the basic radio like you have now.
Good luck and let us know how you eventually get it to work.

I had a standard radio in my 05 F-150, and bought a Shaker 1000 on Ebay, it works fine, but without the amp, it's not quite the same stereo. It is an excellent upgrade though.
I think it will swap OK.
heck.....just try it, it doesn't take 30 minutes to swap.

I believe you can plug and play. I'm on my 4th Skipper 500 and it was a simple swap without any downloading from the dealer.
Of couse there is no advantage to using the Shaker over a base radio. The Shaker will more likely cost a few bucks more. You won't have the amps or subs. Unless your putting those in as well. I would do aftermarket at that point. But what you have to watch out for when picking a radio is the model year.
05/06 radios will work on other 05/06 mustangs, and other Ford vehicles. But 05/06 will not work on 07/08 mustangs, and vice versa. Apparently there is a slight difference in the wiring harness. At least that's what was explained to me by the dealer. They've been known to be wrong before.

there is no download, i did an f150 swap myself for a standard radio upgraded with a shaker....i think the 6 disc change is good upgrade if you do not want to go aftermarket.
