Default battery dead after a few days

hey i got an '07 gt and i've put in an amp and i also have a radar detector and a carputer with usb hub plugged into the console power outlet to power a hard drive and dvd drive

the reason why i'm posting this thread is that the power outlets in my car do not turn off if i turn the key off. And after a couple of days it drains the battery so i got it on a trickle charger. I'm thinking about either

1)putting an auxiliary battery in the trunk from a crown vic
or
2) putting a relay to the main power wire that supplies the power outlets then use the ignition wire for the amp to turn the power outlets on.

i'm just not sure if one is easier than doing the other or if anyone else has ever done it

any input is greatly appreciated

if you need 10 amps or less, you can use
a switched power source like (unused fuse 13, SJB)

if you need more then 10, you can use the
switched power source to activate a relay
which would complete a direct battery connection

thanks for the info hammeron I'll need less than 10 amps so i think i'll take that route. i think the usb hub and the radar detector are the culprits.

yup the amp has a capacitor

... wow i was just doing a search and otherpeople have been having their battery die after a few days too. I wonder if they left stuff pluggedin. maybe installing the auxiliary battery wouldn't be a bad idea
