Default Probably a dumb question on shorty antennas.

I was just curious if an antenna for a Mustang would fit another vehicle... After seeing my 8" on my Mustang,my father iswanting to get one for his Dodge Dakota, haha.

Are antenna sizes universal, or will I have to order one made specifically for the Dodge? Thanks!

The threads might be different, but most likely the threaded partwill be too long/short. It is pretty east to cut these antennas with big enough wire cutters. Then all you gotta do is pull the ball off and grind the cut end so the little black ball (or whatever the Dodge has) can be pressed back on and touched up with some black marker. I did this for my V6 in about 20min and it looks good.

There are several standard sizes. Go down to a parts store and buy a "universal antenna". You should be able to find one for less than $10. It will have 4 or 5 adapters that make it fit any car. Then you can cut it as NickSezz said. I did this for my car and it worked great.

This is how mine turned out:

Shorty Antenna Source on eBay and the web sends adapters to fit all model cars. I found my 14" also fit my wife's Grand Cherokee.

The shorties from AM come with various sizes of threaded adapters (at least my 14"er did). Call them and I'm sure they can tell you what other makes/models it fits.

My 14" from American Muscle came with various size threads. I"m sure one will work for his truck.
