BMW

Why have a V-8 that doesn't deliver its peak power -- 414 horsepower -- until a dizzying 8300 rpm? "When you drive on the limit, a higher revving engine allows the driver to more finely adjust the torque to the rear wheels," says Richter. "It gives more sensitivity." Peak torque is only 295lb-ft at 3900 rpm, and the delivery is so linear -- 85 percent of that figure is available across a 6500 rpm rev range -- that the engine just doesn't seem to punch as hard as a you think a V-8 should. The sensation is deceptive, however: look down at the speedo and you'll almost invariably be going 10-to-20 mph faster than you think. On almost any given stretch of twisting blacktop this M3 is 911-fast.

I'm well aware that a Supercharger/Turbocharger/Any other forms of Forced Induction are capable of giving me more HP and bang for my buck. I'm happy with my 300 RWHP, but just want a little extra. I'd also like a stronger motor that I can potentially rev a little higher 7000 RPM +

I'm not a fan of Forced Induction however, I know it's great but I like being all motor. Plus this project will eventually be something I tackle on my own; minus any machining work. It's very enjoyable and as long as one does their research and takes their time; anything is possibly.

The car is just meant for street use and to be a fun all around car. I don't plan on autocrossing it or frequently drag racing it. I think with a HIGH Compression engine with aggressive cams, and P&P heads along with a ton of other bolt ons that it will achieve 400 RWHP, or close to it. If Horsepower TV can get 375 RWHP. Just think what a little more compression, more aggressive cams (I'm sure they didn't go that aggressive at all) and COP, etc will do.

I havent seen a 302 stroker hit 400 HP yet.
If you want 400 RWHP on that small of an engine you must use FI or dont bother.

Did you happen to read post #10 where I agreed with him and conceded that was a "good point"?

What some people aren't getting is it you want a strong bottom end and more power out of your Forced induction system; this would be the route you were going anyway. I mean, why spend the money forging your bottom end when you can spend a little more and stroke it while you were at it?

For me this is just going to be my starting point, and instead of dropping on a high power yielding supercharger I'll just be turning off the street and be done with it. Saleen has the right idea with its new heritage series. Though the 3v N/A Heritage is low compression (For those who want to later supercharge it) so that's not what I want. Since I am staying N/A I need as high and safe as I can go on 93 octane which is probably 10.0-11.0 depending on whatever pistons I go with that give me such results.

How are those GMS COPS? I'm assuming you went with their pro series (60,000 output) ? I think they are the only brand that has the 60,000 output and stainless steel braid instead of spring. Just wanted to know how they were holding up as they are pretty pricey at around $435..
