Why can't you use your cupholders?

considering the manual is $700 or so cheeper than the auto, trading for one with similar mielage will probably make you money if a dealer will set you up. Granted you'll get hit on your initial investment, but it's not like that wouldn't happen anyway when you sell it.

why do people get autos and then want to swap it with a stick? Why not get what you want in the first place?

it all depends on how much money you have.
1. you could go the cheap way and do it yourself with used/rebuilt parts.
2. you could just trade in your car for one with a manual ( depending on how much they will give you for it ) it may end up being that its cheaper to do this than have a dealer to do this.
3. have a dealer or a shop do it and loose an arm and a leg
its just a huge pain in the ***

It'sthe huge raft of little bits and pieces which will kill you. I did this on an older Ford some years ago, it was a nightmare andI didn't have to deal with an OBC on that either [&:]
Buying all the parts from Ford is financial suicide. You could utilise parts from a crashed car, but even then, unless you have full access to thedonor car, you'll still be back and forth to the dealership for clips, brackets, bolts, washers etc etc

Man, this is one swap I wouldn't attempt[8D].
I did it on my old Cougar but on modern cars, forget it.
Unless you're starting from scratch...

And can you imagine the looks of a future potential buyer of that car?!
"What do you mean the numbers don't match? It's got the original engine!"
"Yes, but it was an auto from the factory and now it's a stick!"[]
"Uh... see ya later, dude!"
