noisy shifter boot

the shifter boot on my gt has lately become really noisy. there are a lot of annoying squeaking noises coming from the vinyl in the boot. anyone else have this problem or know a fix for it?? between that and the insane vibration noises i'm getting from me e-brake handle (i think that's where it's coming from) everytime i go over 3K I'm about ready to go nuts...

I have the same problem!!!!!!! My boot squeeks as well. It really drives me nuts sometimes. I noticed once you hold the shifter it usually stops. And I also noticed it comes from the part closest to the cup holders. I plan on taking it apart and find out exactly whats going on in there.

I had the same issue. Its just the material got stiff. It hapened to me when I used leather cleaner on it. I used the mguiars wipes. Worst product ever, its great for a show pice but it makes the interior look wet and the seats feel slipery and the dash blinds you in bright sunlight from the reflection. I actualy just cleaned it off with water on a lint free towel and worked the boot a bit. The noise is gone.

yeah I think I've actually hit it up with the wipes before. that's cool if that's the problem. i'll try the water.

had the same problem, fixed it by doing the following:

- replaced shift boot with leather boot from redlinegoods

- wrapped the e-brake's shaft in dynamat and covered with matching leather boot

There's a TSB regarding this noise from the Shifter boot.

Can't find it but I'll look for it

If it's squeaking from the pleather boot itself, try saturating the material with a decent spray on leather conditioner (not cleaner) like Lexol (available AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc.). Worked for me.

yeah that's definitely where the noise is coming from... the boot itself. i just tried cleaning it with water like someone suggested and if that doesn't work I'll try soaking it with conditioner. thanks for all the advice guys.
