there is a different tirecompound between street rubber and DR's or slicks which are meant to grip with less tread. Thats why I don't see how it will help at all and strictly unsafe

ORIGINAL: 07lane40

i was talking about the concept. he wants shoes for the track. hes not dumping his 20's.

"just make sure you dont wear them down so far they rip/blow or something. buying DS or DRs would most likely be more worth it."

makes sense, its logical, just might not work on the track. hes not gonna drive bald tires on the street.
The point of the thread is bald street tires at the track.

youre the one who brought up the point of bald stocks on the street.

"Why do you thinkyou lose tractionwhenyour STOCK tires get bald?"

also theyre at full pressure on the street(35psi), not 10-12 psi.

wow, let me explain again. The point being theres no traction with bald stock rubber. So why would there be at the track? Different compounds mean more traction, and street rubber is not meant to have no tread. And your goin to run 10-12 lbs at the track? Just curious, have you ever been to the track

I have MT ET Street DR's mounted on 17x8's. 275/40/17's. I ran a 1.7 60' w/ them. I think they are the best drag radial out there.

track wouldnt let you run with bald street tires anyway.

i dont think this topic was as bad as your heat shield topic when you installed your intake. that was a great topic.
