DYNO tune 1000.00 dollars
Ive been still deciding on a supercharger, I had my mind made up on a procharger but after hearing a couple of them I dont like the sound. So now its the twin screw sound I perfer. Anyways, either one I choose I will be installing myself . Ive been talking to a local shop hear called Nelsons Performance and they have informed me that if I want a tune when Im done to check what the SC kit comes with it will cost me a 1000.00 . Is this normal ? Or is the guy just POed because I can get the same price on a SC as him.

Try someone else I can see half that for a certain number of pulls (say 3 w/tuning) with a wideband A/F monitoring the car and adjusting the tune accordingly. My install and dyno tune was $1500 and many thought that was steep but I also have 60# injectors and it took about 90 mins for the 3 pulls!

Thats good money for 90 mins, he told me it takes all day sometimes to tune in a car. I thought that was a little funny. If your specialty is Mustangs you would think it would be an easy job.

Your exactly right it was not hard for my tuner to do my custom tunes and valet tune. He liked to give the car some cool down time in between runs and that did not take long either. My tuner is very well versed....in the 4.6L 3V

I got my tune from MPH in Atlanta and they were cheaper than that on the tune, but I installed everything myself...It was roughly $500 for the tune...and that was actually them spending quite a bit of time on the car...so I say $1k is a rip off if all they are doing is tuning the car...

that seems a bit high in my opinion. I had my 99 N/A Cobra tuned with SCT (not the flash tuner) and the guy had to program ALL the MAF codes in it and it only cost me like $500 for everything...even the dyno runs.

If they want the car for the whole day then they aren't very good at their job. Using baseline tunes from previous customer cars, any decent tuner will only need 3 or maybe 4 pulls to home-in on the right tune.
The last thing I want is for my car to be somebody elses guinnea pig while they blunder around trying to find a decent tune, subjecting my motor to pulls with poorly selected settings.
