Out of those 3 I would get the Z2 but I will probably be getting the D3 bc even though the nav disk must be in to do navigation I don't listen to many CDs and even if I wanted to switch to watching a dvd as long as the navigation destination is saved then you can just pop the nav disk out and put dvd in and still be able to do the navigation.

I like the new Alpine Nav the best! But out of your pics, I'd go with Pioneer.

Umm, stupid question, but since I'm also considering the D3, what's "Bypass"?

i know!!!... spend the rediculous cost (1k) on a real mod(s).. i dont even use my radio.. i just tune into my exhaust.. best sound in the world..

seriously tho.. would never spend that much on a radio.. get a hood and front fascia if you wanted to go with appearance.. or put it towards a blower if you want power

Its more than a radio though...although I am looking to get the D3 its only 700ish but they include navigation, dvd, radio, cd, you can also hook up ipod and xm to them. They are really nice. exx1976 the bypass is so that you can watch dvds and alter the navigation during the ride. If you don't bypass it the you must stop and park the car before can alter the navigation or watch a dvd.

And how exactly would the radio know if I was in "park" or not? I have a 5-speed...

Parking break sense wire

ALSO, looks like the Avic-Z3 has been released, I've seen pictures on avic411.com about this SO the Z2 will obviously be dropping in price
IF you could geta Z1, there's "fixes" available that will get you upto Z2 standard firmware and Maps

PERSONALLY... I'd go with a D3... yeah, you have to load a DVD when you start a destination, BUT it loads "local" maps into the system memory allowing you to take the map DVD out while diving, the iPod interface for the D3 is so far advanced from the Z1, it's night and day

bigfloppy hit it right on the head theres a wire that you have to take out and put into a different slot and make sure it is grounded and your all set for the bypass. here is a write up on the whole install that someone did and it mentions the bypass in it.
