CB RADIO SETUP PICS/VID AWESOME
#82
wow, this post was like 4 years old. i would up taking that radio out and mounting a unnidin tuned up to about 20 watts on the dash. ran all the wires through under the dash and right to the fuse box. ran the antenna under the dash/center console/rear seats. The CB is a lot more convenient than everyone thinks, but i dont think i am going to install it in the new one.... someone also stole my antenna

Not bad.
I had a cb setup on the left hand side of the dash, all the wires were hidden in the plastic. I upgraded my cb to a cobra 29 lx and had to move it to the middle of the dash. I hid the wires below the windshield and made a cover for it and the mic. My antenna is a magnet mount I keep on the trunk or in it when not in use. Check out the MCOA for the old cb pics and the new ones.

This actually looks like it'd work pretty good and avoid all the haters cuz it goes with you and it not a permanent mount.
As for antenna's...regardless of whatever ppl want to say about rednecks putting big antennas on their pickups, the antenna is the most important piece of any cb setup. The height and plane of the antenna is what provides the range and Im not aware of any stealth setups that actually work. Otherwise I'd have a cb stealth setup in my stang.
Think about it this way...most people consider the cb radio to be dead, but truth be told it's core customer group (trucking industry) is still alive and well and buying this technology. So because it became a fad for America in the 70's and died off as a mainstream consumer product doesnt mean the technology doesnt have value. I believe the truck drivers prefer it this way because it keeps us idiots who pollute their lingo off the airwaves and let's them communicate in an extremely cost efficient manner. Reality is that if there was a revolution in the tech with the antenna to make it a stealthy design, there's very few of us who actually drive our cars to the limit (when we shouldn't) who wouldnt have these. They are cheaper than a cell phone and it's a one time investment instead of paying every month. It's virtually unregulated airwaves, so the man isnt watching you. It's free information from truck drivers who do communicate about police presence, road way conditions, etc...The problem is that we are all too vain about ourselves and our cars (me included) to stick a 4' antenna on the trunk lid cuz it looks sloppy.
