where to put the floor jack
okay so when i switch my tires i am usually at my buddies house who has a lift... i want to do them at my house tomorrow and i need to know if i can jack up the whole rear of the car (both tires) at once without hurting it.. i found this diagram from some other forum of the safe points for a jack. is this diagram correct? also is there a spot in the middle rear where i can jhack the whole thing up?

Pumpkin, your rear end.. Thing that houses your ring and pinion... drives the axles... turns the wheels..

To be on the safe side, once you get the car jacked up, lower it onto jack stands. Don't leave the pumkin resting on the jack.

From what I have heard and read and seen it is safe to use although ford says not too bc they are trying to save their asses in case the jack slips. Most will recommend putting it on stands after get it up too.

+1 for jack stands

RE: where to put the floor jack
I agree and make sure you do not bend the diff cover in the process!!!!!!

RE: where to put the floor jack
+1... if you're getting underneath the car make sure youeither use jack stands or put the tire(s) (that I assume you're going to remove in most of the cases where you gonna lift up the car) under the pinch rail(s) just in case. Also if you're going to use the pumpkin make sure to use a piece of wood or something because the differential cover can be easily damaged which can cause a potential leak

RE: where to put the floor jack
Just jack it up at the pumpkin, put jack stands under car and then lower enough so it's resting on the stands not the jack.

RE: where to put the floor jack
Before you start jacking up the rear, make sure you chock the front wheels so the car doesn't roll forward.
