Default gt500 spoiler mishap?

i picked up a gt500 spoiler from the spoiler store.

i got all the stuff off for the prep work no problems, but when i applied it onto the trunk of the car, the right side is more firmly attached and doesn't move. the left side however, makes a little creaking sound. i know it's not going to go anywhere thanks to the bolt/washer, but i'm just wondering what to do with the sound that it makes.

also, under the spoiler, i see a thin line of white tape. was i supposed to take those off? i took the red backing off the 3m and figured that that was all that i needed to do.

thanks for your help. i hope it doesn't come to taking it off and doing it again, cuz i get the feeling that trying to take it off is just going to suck.

r3v.

I think that's the reasonsome guys go with the OEM part, because it uses the 4 holes instead of 2.

Try using more 3m two sided tape on the left side, it might help.

how do i take it off lol. cuz there is a lot more tape covering the area instead of the oem ones that are glued down in 2 concentrated areas.

hearing a complaint on these spoilers is so rare, that i didn't think twice. i mean i guess it's not too big of a deal, it's just i like things to sound like they're on solid.

no you did everything right, it will hold just fine....trust me the 2 bolts are plenty, and 3m tape is pretty strong too....if i press down on mine i get the whole rear end squeaking a little. You cant just take it back off and try again....it doesnt work like that

+1, My tape on the passenger side was painted over and I just said F-It and didnt even bother... I've had it up to 150mph more than once and its still attatched to the trunk lid of my car... Don't see a problem.

I had applied mine to the white stang and had the same problem (pass side) It wasn't enough to make a difference. Also, I didn't use the tape, just the bolts (left the tape on just didn't remove the backing). Maybe a few hot days it will start to lay flat. Also, on those hot days or with a heat gun or hair dryer, try taping the spoiler down with some duct tape and give it a little heat and then let it stand for 24 hrs. and see if that helps.

I think the biggest problem here is you took off the better looking GT spoiler for the subdued GT500 spoiler

go ahead and take your shots now, im ready!

red + locktite + drain + plug = ? [8D]

anyway, i've been wanting a GT500 spoiler for a long time now, and the parts guy at the dealer said they are $300 (and I'm guessing thats not painted) for the OEM, so $100 for the spoiler store looked pretty good to me

so is there a gap or something? pics would be appreciated
