Alright, I drove it around for a little while and it picked up where I was at except it's pretty sketchy. It's not smooth at all so I'm suspecting that I need to move my GPS Antenna. Where did you guys mount yours? I really don't want it on the outside. I'm thinking about putting it in the headliner above the driver's head basically.

Did you guys hook up the VSS as well? I've got the wires in the center console kick panel so it won't be much of anything to run it up to the front PCM. But I'm still not positive where it hooks up. I know it's PIN3 on the top PCM Block but I'm still a little confused. I guess I'll need to look at it a little more.

I installed my Z2 with the help of some friends along with my tint protector. It was an all-night process but it was fun and we got it right I do believe. For me the system automatically locked on to my location. The VSS wire is the blue wire with small yellow stripes on it. If your looking at the front of your car it will be on the left-front (on the side of your right-front tire) to the left of your engine assuming you are standing infront of it. Just splice into the blue/yellow wire and viola. Your done.

Also, the VSS wire is in the top bundle of wires coming out of the PCM. If you disconnect the upper connector it will be a lot easier to work on. I fed the wire through the firewall by poking it through the same grommet used for the car antenna. The antenna wire is orange so it was easy to find.

I placed my antenna on the rear shelf. It is small and by placing it just beyond the seats, it isn't showing much wire.

Yes you need the VSS wire IMO. And i am sure your GPS ant is fine where its at......the nav will get better the more you drive around i assure you.

Avic411 is a good site, you really should utilize it, there is a wealth of info on these units, just the same as there is a wealth of info for the s197 mustang here.

I think I'm going to throw it into my headliner with a piece of metal for the base. I've got it on top of the unit temporarily so I'm sure it's causing a ton of electronic noise. During a whole drive it moved onto the road that I was traveling on twice and I've only got 3 sat. images for the signal strength so I think that's my problem.

I got it working yesterday. I drove around a little bit more and it started getting better. I moved the antenna to inside the headliner with a piece of metal, it got even better. I'm getting a pretty consistant signal strength of 6-7. I'm so pleased with this unit. I was so close to going with the Eclipse like I had in my trucks, but I don't regret it at all !!
