ticking noise when car is put into drive.
ok so here is whats going on. about a week ago i installed new sparkplugs and what not and decided to reflash my computer with my 87 octane tune. well after that my car has been running weird. I get a random ticking noise coming from the intake manifold? i believe when the car is hot and i have my foot on the brake in drive. And it only really happens when the car is in drive. but whenever i am at a stop light or in a drive thru with my foot on the brake and in drive the ticking is really loud. at first i thought it was a exhaust leak but learned that its coming from the intake manifold area. I am running a 87 octane tune from evolution. so i am not sure if maybe there is a injector clogged? it also plays around with my idle rpms. ill sit at a light and it will be running fine and then drop down in rpms for a second like its going to stall and then shoot back up to normal. so if anyone could help to see what this problem or if anyone has had this problem and how i can fix it i would greatly appreciate it!

RE: ticking noise when car is put into drive.
Sounds like you have a coilpack grounding out on the motor or a bad spark plug. Also possible there is something not plugged in all the way. A coil arc can sound like an exhaust leak. I doubt it's the tune.

I see you have the v-6. Does the v-6 have spark plug wires?? Sorry for my ignorance but I don't know. I'm pretty confident you have a spark jumping issue. Electricity takes the path of least resistance.Try to pop the hood in the dark and watch for a spark to show up somewhere. Good luck

Every 2005+ Mustang that I've been in has done the slight RPM drop at idle that you're talking about. Unless it is like a 400+ drop in RPMs I think that is ok. First thing I was would check is the sparkplugs because you just put them in.

yeah i thought it was an exhaust leak but then i had someone look under the hood while i had it in drive with my foot on the brake and he said it was coming from the intake manifold. so i was thinking maybe its the injecter that is clogged? but yeah i have a 91 octane tune and iw as going to load that up but not sure. and whats a coil arc? lol sorry. i checked all the plugs today to see if they weren tplugged in all the way and they seem to be plugged in all the way. maybe i should tak ethem out and clean them and check them maybe?

If it was exhaust it wouldn't alter the idle. It would be loud when the car was cold and then usually they get quieter or go away all together when warmed up.
