Default Shaker 500 not playing MP3s

Has anyone had any problems with the Shaker systems not reading MP3s? I have a CD that I burned and it plays fine on my PC. But when I try to play it in the car it doesn't work. There are no folders on the CD, all the files are in the root directory. The radio either tries to read the CD and then ejects it with a messgage saying it is unreadable, or it finds 16 tracks (and there are like 80 songs on the CD) and still can't play any of them. An ideas?

I'v got the first message before but not the second.. I have found that the Shaker 500 is moody at times.. Sometimes it will even do this with reg cds.. Usually after i cut the car off and it sits over nite, i can get in, pop a cd/mp3 cd in and its o.k. to go..

Are you burning it as a data disk?? What software are you useing??

I've been having the same problem with mine since I bought it. When I first got it home I burnt a couple of discs and they all worked great, but ever since then its very picky on what it'll read and what it won't. I can burn a disc in Itunes/Windows Media Player and it'll work fine, then turn around a week later and do the same and that disc won't work. It annoys the heck out of me, so in lue of the problem I just bought an Ipod transmitter. From what I hear its not the shaker system its the 6-disc changer. A few of my friends of the newer model Fords with the 6-disc changers andtheirs are just as picky with burnt discs.

Yes, I'm burning as a data disk. I'm just dragging and dropping theMP3 filesusing MS Explorer. Turning the car off and waiting overnight doesn't seem to work as I've tried to get the system to recognize the CD off and on for a couple of weeks. I'm thinking about burning another one just to see what happens.

I wen throuh some trial and error when I first got mine. After reading the owner's manuals and some posts on various forums, I came up with the following. It might be a bit dated, I haven't updated it since I first wrote it.
