Is fuel filter a DIY job?

I noticed that according to maintenance schedule, my fuel filter is due to be replaced.

Is that a job that's relatively simple to do yourself...or best left to dealer/shop to do?

Where is it located?
Anybody out there done this?

It's really easy can be done yourself, I know there has been a lot of threads created. If you scroll down to the bottom of your thread you will see related threads. try those or try the search good luck.

I'm new to ford CARS, but on all my past (ford)trucks you have to have a special wrench/tool is this the same on mustangs?

No it's the push clamps very easy to do.

There were instructions posted on how to do it before. I remember somethinga about starting the car with the fuel pump relay removed and let it stall on it's own that way most of the fuel will be out of the lines when you disconnect them.

Take off plastic cover under car, located under driver's seat area. Once you get that off then the fuel filter is sitting right there in front of you. Unclip each end and slide it out. Slide new one in. Bolt plastic cover back on.

I knew it was somewhere with good pictures but was hoping he would take the time to search since I'm sure he will have other questions that can be answered by using the search feature!

yeah it leaks a little gas but it evaporates quick so i wouldnt worry about it. Sometimes the little plastic clamps can be a b!tch but if you use some needle nose you can get it pushed all the way down without breaking it. Its crazy you think its just super tight, but if you get the plastic clip pushed down a little more they slide right off haha.

I disagree!! I've removed my fuel pumps many times and sometimes it sprays a ton and sometimes alittle. When I did my filter the stuff came pouring out like no tomorrow. Looked to be a few ounces. But it does evaporate fast. Just something to watch out for. I'd have something to catchthe gasjust in case.

+1 on that...I did the "start the car with the relay out and let it run until it dies" and I STILL had fuel come out on me. All in all, it's a REALLY easy job. Just be careful when you pull the filter out, as it'll probably have some fuel in it that will want to run out all over you and the ground. And for God's sakes, don't smoke or have any open flames around when you're doing it, or else you'll look like the Human Torch. I know that goes without saying, but again, I've watched several shade tree mechanics work on their cars with a cigarette dangling from their mouth, trying to check the choke or idle on a carburetor, or sliding under the car to see if their car is leaking any fluids (most of which are flammable!). Hopefully there's nobody on this forum that's that stupid...If so, you need a Darwin Award. :)
