A car's alternator is not meant to charge a dead battery, so if you jump your car and drive across town, the battery will still be too weak to start the car.
....is the wrong answer. An alternator is designed to run the electrics on the car whilst also restoring the battery's charge to full using surplus power.

WTH is "Ima" is that ghetto talk?

I understand the function of an alternator, I was trying to convey to the OP that merely jumping a dead battery and driving it a short, or even a long distance is not going to charge his battery. And the fact that it did not start after shutting it off is not abnormal.

I run into a lot of people who are under the impression that their alternator will charge a dead battery by driving a few miles.

There is a difference between a dead and a flat battery for sure, but it's rare to find a battery SO dead as to not take enough charge to restart immediately following a drive, unless the battery has been obviously trouble (ie, dying) for some time.

If you can pull the battery cable off with just a tug, then that is clearly your problem.
