posi-trac or open rear end?

hey guys.. got in a debate at work.. do we have posi trac or an open rear end?

1 stripe = open
2 stripes = limited slip

and yes, GT's come with standard limited stip

Well, TECHNICALLY (and this is being REALLY, REALLY nitpicky) GM coined the phrase "PosiTraction" to describe the LSD rear ends in theChevrolet line when it first came out, so, no, we don't have "PosiTraction". The Ford Version was called "Equa-Lock" or "Trac-Lok" depending on the vehicle.

However, to answer your question, yes, most GTs should have an LSD in the rear end.

When I hear "posi-traction" I always think of that movie. And Marisa Tomei is soooo hot in that purple dress.

The V6 comes with the open differential, the GT has TracLok from the factory.


And I thought about the "two yutes" as well!

.. wait.. so how when i see all those videos of ppl with GT's doing a brake stand and then creeping away, they put posi trac in?..

GT's come stock with a limited slip. So when you see both tires spinning, thats with a limited slip. If youre getting confused by "posi" and "limited slip", they are the exact same thing, just different terms. When they are doing a brake stand, both tires are spinng too...
