Correct me if I am wrong but these cars are not sanctioned by Ford.
I read that magazine article and ifI remember right they are just regular Grabber Orange GTs with bolt on stuff.
I think they are made by RA motorsport or something like that.
So why would anyone pay extra for that crap if it is not a factory sanctioned car?

The Twister’s date back to the original 1970 versions of 96 Mach 1’sproduced in October 1969 for exclusive sale by Ford’s Kansas City District Sales Office and have a long and storied history. The Twister Special was born in 1970 then a dealer sales district in Kansas City had Ford build a sticker & stripe special package for 96 Mustangs. This special dealer region package was similar in spirit to the High Country and California Specials, but was more specific. The cars were available with the 428 SCJ engines, drag pack, heavy duty suspension and other high performance goods. They were meant for business and looked the part. Today the surviving Twister Special Mustangs are said to be some of the rarest of them all.

Iunderstand the originals were sanctioned by Ford as a promotional tool for a Kansas dealer so they are valuable because they are a rare factory car.
But if I recall correctly these cars are not authorized by Ford, some company just decided to build them and offer different options for them.
I might be wrong about that because I don’t have that magazine anymore, but that is what I remember.
