Dropping Tire Pressure for track.. other tips
hey guys..
i am going to the track tonight, and will be my first time running.. although i am not new to drag racing at all.. it will be the first time im running foreal..
so i wanted to ask you guys for some quick tips..
first off.. my car is making about 295 RW.. and 315 TQ
and i have 295/45/18's on the rear (hugeee!!).. and hurst, etc.. the usual mods basically..
so heres what im thinking..
BURNOUT
-since i dont have DR's.. should i just do a little one to clean the tires?.. should i avoid the water box?..
LAUNCHING..
-havnt palyed with this for a while, but im thinking right around 2300, and do i want to drop the clutch or slip it?..
TIRE PRESSURE
-with those huge meats, i was thinking between 18-22 psi.. i currently run 30.. but i drive everyday.. and i want to get there and back safe.. so i wouldnt go anything under like 16..
WEIGHT
-was going to take my spare out, and all that crap.. but is it really worth it?
and finally.. SHIFTING
-when i make a fun run downa back road, sometimes i will power shift and leave my foot on the gas and a quick clutch action and slam 2nd.. but heres the thing.. my tires break loose on that concrete, and where im going, ive only heard bad things about there track.. so i dont want to break loose and loose it when i punch 2nd.. so i was thinking about taking it some what easy on 2nd and slaming third.. let me know if you have any suggestions on this one..
thanks for taking the time to read this, and please, let me know what you think, or have any tips or anything.. i want to do well, but dont want to wreck, and dont want to look like NOOOOB!! LOL

No DRs....go around the water box, don't use it. A quick burn to get oil off tires and you are ready.
2300 is a good start, slip slightly in the process ofgoing WOT
Pressure, good start
Weight.....if you want to
If you are breaking loose don't power shift, do a very fast on/off and you will do better. Traction is everything at the strip.
Visit our street/strip section to visit with the gurus. Launch is everything! It is not the same as the street.....as I learned last year as a noob [&:]

If equipped with Tokico D-Specs, adjust accordingly.
Full soft, front and rear is a good start. The rear should be soft enough to maximize traction but not allow wheel hop.

dry hop, I leave a 3000 on stock Pirellis, don't power shift unless you have a car trailer and some spare $$$, lose the extra weight, keep the speed on the track not the pits, be a gentleman (even the ricers) after all you are there to have fun right? I don't drop my pressures at all. ummmmmmmm dats about it.
