Default Spoiler and scoop

The company doing my vinyl stripes wants the hood scoop and rear spoiler removed prior to
doing the installation. The dealer's body shop is going to charge me to do this for me.
Honestly, it doesn't look that hard, so I'm wondering if this is a job I could just do myself
and save some money and time. Is there any 3M tape holding that stuff on, or is it just
bolt on (if there's tape, I may change my mind because that stuff is a PITA to get off).

Thanks,

Lol funny you just asked that cause my cars going in for stripes tommorow morning and stripe guy told me to remove my roush scoop.
Easy as hell!
1= remove push pins holding down hood liner
2=unscrew nuts (roush has 7)
3= Hard part..Now wrap a flathead screwdriver in a soft micro-fiber type cloth....gently slip it under the tip of the hood scoop (up front)
start moving upwards toward the windshield. when u start feeling resistance keep on going upwards towards windshield while gently prying up and down on the screwdriver. You willl feel the 3m tape give.Do this for both sides and the rear and voila hood scoop removed !
Hood unscratched and scoop in one piece.

Now gently clean off the sticky residue left from the scoop on your hood (i used rubbing alcool on a soft micro-fiber cloth)
reapply 3m tape to scoop for quick reinstall once stripes are back on and there ya go.

Make him stripe around them or the striping will bunch up
under the scoop and spoiler. Do a search on bunching stripes
and you will find out why and see pics of this bunching effect.

if you do decide to take the scoop or spoiler off, you might want to use a dryer or heat gun to warm them upa bit. It will loosen up the tape. Also, fishing wire used like floss works well at separating the tape without causing any scratches.

157,

Thanks for the pointer, I'm going to call the stripe guy tomorrow and ask him about that.

I hate taking off 3m stuff... I guess that's the point of it.

Since you're doing Vinyl, Baltimorestreetmods.com sells the precut stripe kits for the GT/Roush hood scoops. You might give them a call and see what they can do for you.
