Default Is ticking lash adjuster from TSB.. (Replied: It was a spark plug)

Just curious... Ford has a TSB for a ticking lash adjuster on the passenger side. I definately have it. Verified with a stethescope, though I admit that doesn't rule out an exhaust leak. It definately sounds ticky, and not put-putty, like an exhaust leak. We'll see exactly what it is soon when I take my aftermarket header off and remount it.

But, I'm out of warranty, so in your opinion is a ticking lash adjuster a dangerous sign to an engine or no biggie? I'm figuring no biggie because Ford is so on the fence about calling it a problem versus calling it a normal engine sound, but experts on this forum will know better.

Indeed.

Didn't that TSB have very specific engine build dates. I thought I read that. Sure its not the injectors?

I can't hear any ticking over the ticking of my fuel injectors.

a lash adj is some thing that adj tension on the valve train IE cams. if its ticking it needs to be replaced or at the very least bled( if the 3v are not self bleeding type). if the adj sticks or collapse you could have a serious collision of internals that would be catastrophic

can someone link the TSB?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it... I have some sort of weird ticking but its more of a interior sound which doesnt happen ALL the time, and NEVER happens when the car is stopped in park or in D.

No its not the injectors, that sound is something I already investigated before learning that. Yes, they're insanely loud. Weird I never noticed that on other cars...

Yeah, its just one of the two middle cylinders on the passenger side doing it. That doesn't rule out an exhaust leak at the head to header area, but this does seem ticky instead of putt-putt.

Like I said I'm going to remount that header in the coming weeks, but was curious how bad a ticking lash adjuster can be for a car, or if its nothing to worry about.

was your engine built during the specified dates? I thought yours was an 05, so in that case, it was not, and you are just worrying about a TSB that doesn't relate to your engine.
