Scott Drake Arm Rest Cover

Has anyone purchased and installed the Scott Drake GT Arm Rest cover? I have ordered one for my car and I was just wondering if anyone else has put this one thier car, how hard or easy was it to put on, and any tips to make it easier? Also, if anyone has any pics of them on would be nice. I originally seen the one that they put on the Super Snake and thought it was really cool looking, and then when I saw that they make them for the GT's I just had to get it. Thanks in advance for any help or pictures. Jeff

Yeah...bought it and spent about 2 hours installing. But it looks great. Follow the instructions. They are accurate. Leave enough material to go inside the inner plastic piece on the underside of the armrest. That way that plastic piece will help hold the cover tight, along with the glue. The hardest part was getting the seams straight. If they're crooked it will look like your armrest is on crooked. Do several trial fittings before doing it for real. Folding the leather wasn't too bad. Here's a pic. I'll be glad to post others if necessary.

what kind of glue do you use and where do you get it? I am guessing that it doesn't come with it? I am waiting for it to be delivered any minute. The UPS site shows that it is out for delivery right now! I am getting a Strut Tower Brace and this Arm Rest Cover and I am excited! Jeff

The instructions suggest 3M Super 77. You can get it at Menards in the paint department. They have a stronger glue...something like Super 97. I'd go with the Super 77 as the instructions recommends. It's a spray. A large can is about $10. Far more than you need.

You could also do this with double sided sticky tape. Something like a carpet tape. The advantage is it isn't as messy. The disadvantage is you can't slide the leather around to make minor adjustments for alignment, which I think is important.

Good luck.

Have one on my car. Looks really good, and not really that hard to install, well, my artsy wife put it on, she is good with crap like that, LOL. Anything that needs to be done "neatly" I have my wife do! She used 3M Super 77, which you can pick up at any craft store for $6 a can. Just be careful to not put in on backwards, LOL, my wife did the first time and had to turn it around, luckily the glue hadn't dried yet.

i bought a leather cover from redline goods when i replaced my shifter and ebrake boots. what i did was removed the console lid (2 or maybe 4 screws), aligned the cover carefully making sure the seams were even, and then i stapled the cover in place on the underside. i know it sounds crazy, but believe me, it worked perfectly, it was easier to deal with than glue, and it looks totally stealth. the staples are never seen. here's an interior shot:
