RE: Need to lose over 100lbs for $1000
Actually that BMR kit works perfectly because it only costs 2 grandas of the adjustable shocks and the big brakes. I'm already running adjustable shocks and big brakes aren't my thing. Anyway the kit costs $600 without all the extra junk and saves 94 lbs.
HERE's my problem. I'm not confident in the safety of the tubular A-arms and K-member and those are important parts of the car. Gotta think this one over.

The title says what I am trying to do, I have a Mustang and I need to reduce some weight while maintaining funcionality. What's the best way to reach my target weight loss with this budget?

Sway bar and Radiator support delete
Tubular K-Member and A-Arms - on your budget this is the best bang for the buck
Aluminum Drive Shaft
replacing all of the above = well over 100 lbs of reduced weight
Last but not least:
Ultra Light wheels at about $500 ea. +/-
A $1000 wont get you very far.

Yes, ligher cars win in all aspects, they are faster, handle better, and get better MPG to boot!

Not necessarily so on #2 (handling can easily be hurt by manydragstrip-oriented lightening techniques)
