Car on during brake bleed right?

Yeah, ABS cars need to be turned on during brake bleed right? Like our cars specifically.

This is new to me. I'll be interested to see what others say.
I just attach my power bleeder and then just bleed all four corners, starting in the back right and moving closer to the master cylinder each time. Never had any trouble with my other cars, but I have not yet bled the brakes on my Stang.

If you are using a vac, there`s no need. If you`re pumping the pedal, yes.

Have never bled power brakes with the vehicle running on with other vehicles. Chiltons manual for the 2005+ Mustang also says nothing about starting/running the vehicle to bleed the brakes by way of pumping the brake pedal method.

^ Then I`ll defer to Mr. Chilton.

Well today I tried it with the car off and the brake pedal locks up down at the floor after just 2-3 pumps. I have to turn the car on to get it to travel back up again. I didn't like it.... Everytihng ended up OK, but I only got the rear done. I think a power bleeder is the way to go.......

I bled my Brembo's without the car on, and had no issues at all.

I ended up getting a little one with a Ford adapter from Jegs because I could never find anybody to help me pump the brakes. It's sort like getting friends to help you move, you know? Everybody disappears. Hehe. Anyway, it was about $70 or $80 for the bleeder and the adapter, but now I can bleed brakes by myself and it's a piece of cake.

Interesting to those that leave the car off..... I can only pump the pedal twice before it locks up with the car off. Weird...
