Default Tires on Shelby Razors

I'm ordering 18" razors. Need opinions on tires. BF Goodrich T/A KDW-2 vs. Sumitomo HTR Z II vs. Nito 555's. Any comments. Thanks.

Default RE: Tires on Shelby Razors

Sumitomo HTR II

I have these in 255/45/18. About 2500 miles on them, many of which are VERY hard miles - autoX, racing. They are holding up well thus far. They squeal like a stuck pig on an AutoX course (so I recently changed to a grippier tire). They are a fairly hard compound and thus don't have tremendous grip. They work very well on wet roads but I have not used them in a downpour. They are a summer only tire and the colder it gets the less they grip. Road noise is acceptable. They are directional and thus you can't switch sides. IMO they are one of the most attractive tires out there (if that matters). Traction off the line is pretty bad, due in part to the low profile. For the price and for a DD they are a decent choice but if I only had one set of tires...I'd probably go with a high performance all season.. If you can get by all year on a summer only tire and price is a concern then yea, they are a good choice. If you are willing to spend..then I'd look elsewhere.
