Default Please explain...3:55. 3:75, 4:10

My stang came with a 3:55 LS Differential....I see you guys have other stuff going on. what does it all mean?

I actual have the same question, i have bbe told my 06 came with 3:10. some on posted last week thy got much better MPG wiht 4:10 hard to beleave though. what is the big differance?

To keep it simple, it's the ratio in the rear end. The higher the first number, the more your wheels (axl actually)will spin for each rotation of the driveshaft. So if you have 4.10:1, your axls and hence your wheels will spin 4.1 times for each turn of the driveshaft. This will give you quicker acceleration, but less top speed and gas mileage. Obviously it's a lot more technical than I said, but it should give you the idea.

Flip that around. Get 4.10 in a manual and 3.73 in an automatic

Actually, get whichever you prefer. Depends on how much of a launch you want, if you want to go F/I in the future, etc etc.

Ok, so with my 3:55 I have a high top-speed and probably better gas mileage, but slower off the line. I have a manual too...It's ok, I'm still beating the Z350's...

Not a big point, but a lot of you guys are saying 3:55, 3:73 or 4:10. These ratios should be expressed as: 3.55:1, 3.73:1 and 4.10:1. It's not 3 to 55, or 4 to 10. It's 3.55 to 1 or 4.1 to 1.
