hmmmm I have never had that problem. Mine is an '05 with over 50k miles (we drive the hell out of it) and barely a scratch on it. I accidently whack it with my Coach bag all the time and the metal thingies on it have yet to scratch it!

Same can be said for our F150 and Expedition... pretty resiliant

I'd liketo know how they get half a coat of paint on the car? lol!

ORIGINAL: sst06vert

Just backing out of my garage and my car hit an empty light radiator box and the paint is gone. My car moved about 6 inches and I realized there was a box there because my son told me there is a box leaning on the rear fender.I looked to see if everything is okay but now there is an inch of primer showing (wow). There is no ding or dent (LOL)..thank god. Seems the metal is holding up (lol). Anyway to fix this? These cars must have half a coat of paint on there.

Blame the EPA, new standards for VOC's have impacted all paint in almost every application from pools to cars. Dam Tree huggers!

That's been my biggest complaint with the car. 30km on it and lots of paint chips. I complained because my f150 has nothing close to the number of chips and has 100km on it. Was basically told right out that they use lower quality paint on the cars than on trucks.

What year is the F150? I think this super thin paint thing is within the last three or four years at Ford. One thing about it, it makes it easier to fill the chips and have them not be so noticeable. But you get tons of them...
2002 F150, black actually so chips'd show a lot more too.

I think if you did that to a black one you'd be crying. If I wipe mine gently with the wrong towel, it gets scratched.

I so agree with that...
I wish paint quality would go back to the 80s standards.
Everything shrinks now days, even 2K primers[:@].

I asked the body shop man about what yall are experiencing,

Ford made the Mustang so fast and were selling so many, they were not being cured nor prepped propery/.

also, several preparation steps were skipped.

Ive seen several 2005's with horrible looks
