Easy Driving Only!
1. Drive 5-10 mi and let cool at least 2 hour.
2. Drive 5-10 mi and let cool at least 1 hour.
3. Drive 5-10 mi and let cool at least 1/2 hour.
After that you can repeat cycle 3 seven more times or simply drive gently for 500 mi with no sustained high speeds.

Since its 5 mi each way to work I just limit them to the commute for 5 days and then let it rip.

The idea is to avoid any "hot spots" during break-in that can cause issues down the road.

When I had 4.10s installed in my Cobra they didn't even tell me to break them in...I drove on the interestate the day I picked the car up...its possible they drove it a bit to break the car in...but I was hammering down on that thing pretty quickly and had no noise issues or breakage...lol...Maybe I was just lucky? lol

Ford doesnt break them in either but the above is what most gear manufacturers recommend (give or take a few details).

I dont break in drag car gears other than a few laps around the pits and then letting it cool. But then again if they made any noise or wore prematurely I would never know the difference.

I'm sure that extra heat cycles are always good before putting a ton of stress into a part. Tempering rocks.

My installer suggested three heat cool cycles, and then just take it easy for about 400 miles.....

Best mod I ever did....I absolutely love em, could never go back to stock gears.....Total street fun......

Ditto! My installer told me that FRPP gears are heat-treated and need no break-in period. He installed them at his residence, so the only break-in period was basically doing 20MPH through the neighborhood to let the gear oil circulate. Once we were ready to get out on the main road, he gave the OK to nail it. That was over 2 years ago and they've been stone quiet ever since.

I waited about 500 miles before I romped on them, just to be safe. Did the same thing with the 4.10s I put in my big car and had good luck with that so decided to do the same thing with the Stang.
