What about FRPP? Do you need motor mounts for them?
I have frpp shorties. motor mountws aren't needed. i'm not sure why some are calling them junk, but they fit well, don't leak, and even though my butt dyno isn't that sensitive, i definiteliy feel a little more mid range punch.

i however didn't notice any difference in sound, at all. but i was already running an off road x with magnaflows. this combo to me sounds really good.

oh yea, i forgot, i paid $250 for installation.

I have the ceramic coated BBK's from Brenspeed in my garage. I hope to get around to installing them soom. I've read the article in Mustang Monthly a few times and looks pretty easy if I use my friends lift. I like the BBK b/c of price, they're tuned length like the JBA's, and they showed a decent power improvement in the article. Brenspeed had the best price that I found on them too and I love giving them my business. Here's a link to the install article. Oh, and a big +1 to getting the ceramic coated.

Thanks! I really appreciate all the replies and great information. Keep it coming!

Brenspeed does have a relatively good price for the BBK ceramic coated shortys. The ceramic JBA's are about $115 more than the BBK's.

From what I've heard, shortys give a little more volume and make a more distinct exhaust thumping sound.....without being airy and rough like LT's can do.

maybe on a stock exhaust you might be able to hear something. I can't tell any difference when i added the shorties, but i was already running an off road x and magnaflows.

an x pipe will get you more of the exotic sound for sure. It's a little more "raspy" than an h pipe. An h pipe will have more of a muscle car "rumble"

I have the SS JBA Shorties, combined with FRPP X-Pipe and JBA Axle Backs......They sound sweet!!!! Wont throw any CEL's, are 50 State legal, and look great under the Hood. As far as the install, I had them put in by my local Garage as a favor to me. Also you might want to hear them with your Stock H-Pipe first.....Then decide if you want the X-Pipe. BTW I'm more than satisfied with this set-up.
