The funny thing is... If these old guys really knew anything about cars, then they would be able to quickly calculate that your response of 4.6L = 281 cubic inches. If they're still asking what size after you say 4.6L, then dont bother because they clearly know nothingabout cars.

The last car show I went to last year had a couple of these old guys walking around that didnt know **** about cars but talked like they did.

old guy: what engine this thing got.

me: (well they only have 3 choices and this aint a GT500!!) A 4.6 v8.

old guy: so how big is that.

me: 281 cubic inches.

old guy: oh you mean 289.

me: no its a 281.

old guy: well if its not a 302 its gotta be a 289.

me: (this isnt 1967!!!!!!!!@#@#$) no, Im sure its a 281 4.6 V8.

old guy: I think you got your facts mixed up young man.

me: ([:@][:'(][>:]) I guess so...........WTF and thats happened to me more than once!

LOL...exact same thing happened to me! Ironic thing is, our puny 281s would blow away most of those bigger cube motors of yesteryear. Still, those old school motors souns SICK!

Most people don't even know that the 5.0 is not in mass production.. When i got my F150 with a 4.6 Triton, eveyone asked what sized motor is that.. I told them 4.6 .. They all looked puzzled "v6??" i'd have to tell them read the side emblem.. I had to go through the thing of explaining that the 5.0 isn't massproduced anymore.. Still they asked if i knew what i was talking about.. uugghh..So most the older folks don't even know that a 289 isn't even made anymore..

The 5.8 (351w) in a s197 body, wow baby..

when they ask that, the question is usually formed, "what model is that? the 302?", so i dont include the Cammer and Boss crate engines

My grandpa thought his '08 Explorer came with a 302 and therefore thought my car had it too. (Both have the 4.6, with the explorer having slightly less power)My Uncle asked if it was a 351. [>:]Ah well. They're cool guys anyway.

Thanks alot guys, I'll bebetter prepared with knowledge from you guys, for the next old guy that ask me what size.....hahaha

the 3** was ment to represent 300to 399
No problem, if ya wanna get technical, the Chevy LS1 and LS6 (Gen 3) are not true 5.7 liter engines, they are 346 cubic inches, a 5.7 is a 350!!! LOL
The 5.0 was actually a 4.9
