Exhaust not loud enough...help

Exhaust not loud enough...help
Alright, here's the deal...I'm not going catless.
I know it's "cool" to be without them, but I'm tired of taking the chance not to get pulled over and ticketed...I went WAAAY too long with illegal exhaust on my neon.
Here's what I've done: I bought some Bassani Race axle back exhaust and it sounds ok...good, clean sound just not loud enough.
Here's my question: how much louder will the car get it if I remove the stock catalytic converters and buy some smaller "high flow" cats to weld in their place? The cats I'm looking at I actually purchased for another car before off of Ebay- 2.5" catalytic converters...about 11" long. I would imagine the stock cats are keeping in a lot of the sound and I was wondering if anyone had experience replacing them with high flows
Thanks ahead of time...

For the most part, they will get louder. However, how technical are the police where you are at Phil? I'd go O/R Mid pipe, you'll notice a HUGE difference in sound.
How does the stang feel Phil? I hope you are enjoying it.

RE: Exhaust not loud enough...help
Well, I live in a small town and drive into the Metroplex quite a bit...but I have to get out of the small town to get there.
I'm not sure if I would get pulled over, but I can't risk getting a ticket for no cats. So...I was thinking either buying smaller, high flow cats...or "making" my stock cats high flow.
I know the O/R pipe will be loud, but I really don't wanna lose the cats.
BTW, the car feels good...just slow. At least it's more comfortable, but coming from a 2800 lb. car with 375 whp, it's slow. I'll most likely put a turbo kit on it next summer, but for now I'll be happy with slower if I can get some good sound out of it.

get a bassani x pip with high flow cats.. (this is what i did)..
but i also put cutouts..
.. you could do this and put the cutouts before the cats so that its SUPER loud and then close them when you want just a little loud+
