Homegrown Spoiler Delete

THATS ONE HOT LOOKIN YELLA STANG!
Just a few questions, though.
Did ya use any type of new pad or sealant?
Or did you just bolt the new one down and
call it that?
What about the water leaking problems?
And how did you address the drain hole
on the spoilermounting pads?
Is it actually just as easy as you put it?
What about the "gaskets" you removed
with the WD-40? Did you reuse them or
get new ones from the stealership? If
so, whats the part #s for them?
Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm going to ignore the bickering and get this thread back where it belongs- to expand on the op!
Then I cleaned everything up and gave it a coat of wax before bolting on the new, take-off, black spoiler.

The black spoiler came with these sticky gaskets (they're really just black, 2-sided tape but I'll continue to call them gaskets) already attached to it. I went to my Ford parts counter and had the guy look up a part # for spoiler gaskets and none were shown in the pictures of the parts. I guess when they took my new spoiler off that black Mustang they had a way to get it off cleanly. Or else maybe it was just so new the gaskets don't stick. It arrived with plastic covering the gaskets
When I pried my wing off the gaskets were stuck to both the spoiler and the deck lid. A mess! I peeled off as much as I could and then sprayed a bunch of WD40 on a rag and the residue left on the car was literally eaten up by it.
I never has any leaking problems in the previous 3 years. After washing my car I could press down on the wing and water would come out from the gasket area, but none ever made it into the trunk. I don't know if the water is coming from the gaskets, maybe they're like a sponge?
I don't know what "drain holes on the spoiler mounting pads" are.
If you buy a wing that the gaskets are no longer on, you'll probably need to fabricate some from 2-sided tape. I wouldn't just bolt on a wing without some sort of gasket, unless it was never going to get wet.
And yes, it was as easy as unbolting, cleaning up and bolting the new wing on.
Hope that helped.
And yes, when the wing was off I stepped back to see if I like the spoiler delete on my GT.
Decided it wasn't for me.
Nuff said.

Why in the HELL is anyone arguing over a damn ZO6. We dont care if it has a spoiler or NOT! Just simply stating to each their own, but dont insult someone's car over not having one WHEN we prefer not to

Talk about "pointless things"- howzabout those fake (i.e. non-functional) hood and side scoops on your car?
Sorry, couldn't help myself- too good an opening to pass up!
