he already has a nav unit....he paid like $2100 for it also. I agree the Z1/Z2/Z3 is a better head unit by far but its a lot of money to be throwing down the drain unless he finds someone willing to by it from him for alot of cash, which i cant see happening.

RE: Want new HU and speakers... should I?
I am going to throw this out.
My system is as follows:
Apline headunit
MB Quart mid range components in upper doors
MB Quart midbass in lower doors (sub) location
MB Quart coaxials in back (turned off most of the time. Kinda worthless back there)
Eclipse DVC Sub
Eclipse AMP (and not the Circuit City ones either )
Long story - sounds awesome!!!, but if I had it to do over again I would NOT do it.
I was not into the performance aspect before I did the stereo. Now the exhaust, engine, etc complete with the stereo too much and I would have rather spend the money on more power and less weight.
Just my two cents.
If you want a nice nav unit, get a Garmin or Tom Tom external unit and be done with it : )

RE: Want new HU and speakers... should I?
I would go with speaks first, if that doesnt satisfy you, then get some high quality amps to push the new speakers. One of the issues you will have is that you are running a Vert which is completely different than a coupe as far as sound quality. Your roof absorbs sound vice reflect it so its a bit different. I completely agree that you are stuck on the HU, as there is no way I would be able to justify tossing it. You should be able to get a very good quality sound using the stock HU with aftermarket amps and speaks. One issue you may run into is lack of bass, as if you kill the subs in the doors to put in aftermarket, then you are looking to get something in the trunk and I do not see a sub out being part of the stock HU.
You could always put out some feelers to see if anyone is interested in the stock HU since its the NAV/touchscreen edition for teh ford, which is pretty nice as far as a stock stereo goes....you may get lucky, you just never know.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am gonna try to stick with what I have and try to be happy. First move will be new speakers, though. Thanks again.
